Their story has been told around the world in written form and on TV. David, who lived in Rio 3 years brought his new Brazilian bride to the United States and soon after, Doris, his wife wanted to return. So in 1994, David created
SambaLá Samba School in Long Beach where they lived so that Doris would not be homesick. Ten years later, SambaLá is recognized around the world for its work in promoting samba and the Brazilian cultural via its school, carnaval, and world-wide projects in Rio and on the internet.
